Very annoying segment on NPR this morning, titled something like 'increase in malware for Macs', with an interview with some anti-virus company saying they were seeing hundreds of pieces of malware emerge for the Mac, then someone from UAW saying "don't worry, not true", very Fox style.

at the risk of derailing this into the pol-war lounge, I have to ask, Does anyone expect accurate information from NPR? It's a bastion of misguided thought, where its 'journalists' play loose with the facts every day.

Erm, this only surprised me because usually NPR is the most reliable and accurate source of actual news on US broadcast media.

i read a similar "story" in the paper that same day, probably where it was pulled from. The headline was something to the effect of "HUGE GROWING THREATS FOR MACS..OS X NOT SECURE!!!!!!!!!OMG!!" They cited a study showing "hundreds" of new malware threats for Macs. Then they mentioned, just in passing what should've been the headline, that there were 150,000+ in the wild for Windows AND that all the Mac strains required physical access or for the user to run/install a program.

Egh.

Driveway moments
Hidden Kitchens
Food

NPR is tons better than most of the commercial rubbish that pollutes the airwaves. Not that I have a strong opinion about this or anything

Why is it only the Republicans in here poo pooing NPR? Sad that what we consider the best media choice is dependent on our political leanings.

I think it is the reality based community that prefers NPR, people who want a constant stream of their favorite propaganda have other options.

NPR is socialist radio. If that's what you like, and if that's what conforms to world view, then that's what you'll defend.

I have no idea how you could possibly arrive at that conclusion.

Sure. Just like Christianity, global warming or evolution mentions will usually side-track a thread into snide-comments or bickering, NPR has a similar effect. It just gets a lot less mentions.

But aside from mud-slinging, no critics have actually leveled any charges.

I think NPR and Fox News mentions stand a cut above CNN or MSNBC.

Still waiting for a logical, rational case... We always have a surplus of emotional convictions, but very little of the former in comparison.

I'm not getting involved in it any further. That's why I stay out of the Political/War Lounge.

And my radio stays off NPR. Hee hee...

NPR keeps doing stories about "Global Warming" as if there was any science behind this religion :/

And it continues to doubt the presence of Weapons of Mass Destruction in Sadam's final days :/

What further reason does anyone need to condemn it as left-wing propaganda?

Oh, wait... nevuh mind.

Further reason? What is your reason? You haven't substantiated anything you've said... Like I tell many others: logic please.

Doh! Sorry Love Calm! It's hard to tell in here sometimes, people often come across as parodies of themselves even when trying to be serious, which always trips me

Yep. It's hard when the parody of the thing makes more sense than the thing itself .

I need a hot key for "please make your case", and a separate one for "logic please!"...

Why must I coax your argument out of you? If you have one, make it! You know that I'm not one for emotional statements like this.
