I never thought of that. That's why it was so hard for me to get into the movie. I'm a bit of a Trekkie and the movie was so confusing to me because my brain kept telling me that the history and timeline was all screwed up.

You should get some gay guys together and hold up signs outside the next Twilight film that says, "Gay dads for Twilight!"

I will. The ending of Galactica did not give me much confidence, and the premise of Caprica sounds annoyingly like a primetime soap — but the DVD of the Caprica pilot was good enough to get me to watch.

I have stopped watching Caprica already. However, I still have several episodes recorded. I'm not sure if I'll eventually watch them or just erase them.

Fringe renewed for another season.

Exclusive: 'Fringe' picked up for a third season | EW.com

Things are not looking as bright for FlashForward and V though.

Will overseas fans save ABC's 'FlashForward?' | EW.com

Out of those three, I like Fringe the best.

That's a good question. With all of the reboots lately, I suspect the answer is laziness and fear. Why take the risk of coming up with something completely new rather than rebooting something that was already popular in the past?

Why? Perhaps it didn't start out as strong as Gallactica, but it is still interesting TV to me...

Sadly, I'm not watching *any* sci-fi this year. Given their tendency towards multi-year story arcs and the possibility of the studio canceling them before the arcs are resolved, I just fail to see the point in getting invested in a story that I might never see the ending of.

These days, I'm much more likely to watch a show where stories are resolved within one or two episodes.

I don't mind putting a contemporary spin on certain stories. For instance, the original Battlestar Galactica sucked and doesn't hold up to our modern standards. I would argue that the same holds true for Star Trek. I would say that it would be pretty hard to get younger generations who didn't grow up on Star Trek hooked on the older series, but I bet they liked this new movie okay.

Not everything has to be brought forward to appeal to younger generations, but Star Trek was a fun series that people enjoyed for a long time that sort of went away. Why not?

Oh, I agree, and I also liked the Star Trek reboot. It just seems, though, that an awful lot of sci-fi movies these days are reboots.

Too much pseudo-religious gobbledygook. I guess it wouldn't be that bad if the writing were tight, but I find the writing kinda lacking. It reminds me of BSG in the later seasons, but without the action.

I wonder what the effect of this 'half season' sh*t, plays in ratings for a lot of these shows now as well. This pretty much has a effect on me, personally, returning to a lot of shows and the fact that you never know if they are coming back till the last minute. The half season thing is one of the main reasons I never made it through Battlestar Galactica. Showing 6-8 episodes then putting a 5 month gap in the middle of a show is as lame as it gets.

Normally I'd agree, but part of the reason this time around was the Olympics.

Then you missed out on one of the best hours of TV Sci-Fi in the last 10 years. The forth episode was, dare I say, epic.

That's interesting, as I actually find the whole religious element pretty interesting, maybe even more so than the action and other stuff going on. It's not just the mono/polytheistic thing to me, but how these religions and philosophies came to be, how these religions impact society and politics, etc. We are learning a fair bit about the Taurons in Caprica now, I'm looking forward to learning about the other colonies.

I recommend Kyle XY. I’m halfway through the second season, and haven’t seen a weak episode yet.

Thought I'd put this up here. The credits to Firefly, with a bit of 80's retro. Surely a sign that a show has 'made it' is when there's parody credits on Youtube, right?

It'll be much easier if you just comply.
