Hi guys,

Just upgrade my MBP to Hitachi 5K160 and I have noticed that it appears to run a little hotter 5-10 C than the OEM Fujitsu drive. I am just wondering what kind of HD temperatures others are seeing, especially those with 5K160 HDs.

I am currently looking at 38C.

Cheers.

That's well within normal operating range of a hard drive. Desktop drives in a cramped case often reach well over 50C.

I've been monitoring the temperatures for a day now (using Temperature Monitor). So far, highest temp reached was 42C ... during DVD burning, iMovie HD editing and Photoshop. Haven't seen it go any higher yet.
