For those of us that aren't upgrading to office 2004, does anyone that has it want to extract the splash screen and put them on the net were everyone can download them?

do you know where the splash screens are? if you do you can download the office 2004 trail. i see the advert for it on this page right now, so refresh your browser a few times. then you have 30 days to extract them.

That's not a bad idea....I don't know where the resources are, but I can poke around in there.

If I find it and make it I will post them and let you guys know.

Yep, something like that.

Basically, there's no way in crap I will upgrade to the new version of office....but the new icons and splash screen look sweet. A much needed update to the aged look of the office suite.

I will post an update when/if I make some headway.

You have 1TB of disk space but you won't upgrade for Office 2004? Seems like you have enough money.

I wasn't exactly sure the best way to distribute these.. so it's a collection of .icns files, with the icons pasted over them, and the splashes distributed as .pict files, which they are in the resource fork.

Anyways.. it's worth a shot

splash and icons

1. The new version of Office is much better and worth the purchase.

2. The new icons are nothing special.

3. The new splash screens suck.

Stuff originally posted by Stradlater is bold:

I can understand that for some people it is worth it, for how little I use the office suite now, it just isn't worth it for me.

2. The new icons are nothing special.
That's cool, I just like them.

3. The new splash screens suck.
If you want the resources to the old ones, I can hook you up.

I don't have Office '04, so I don't know how good it is, but looking at those icons and splashes, I have to agree with Stradlater. They suck.

I might cook up some custom ones sometime soon, but I'm not sure it's worth it since you barely see them; both of the defaults just really don't do it for me.

I used this piece of software to change mine:

http://www.macupdate.com/download.ph...stallcsi22.sit

It worked great and you can substitute any image you create for the splash screens for the applications it supports.

Good Luck.

The plugins for the CSI splash screen program does not support office 04 yet. I was talking with the developer it.
