I want to install the bare minimum tools necessary needed to compile source code from the Net (and not necessarily the whole gamut of Apple tools for programming Apple apps).
The Dev Tools installer includes the following options:
- Developer's Tool Software
- Mac OS X SDK
- Developer Documentation
- Developer Example Software
- BSD SDK (not checked)
- Dev Tools Extras
What is needed and what can be left out?
Cheers.

so you need the Developer Tools Software, and the BSD SDK. And nothing else. Well, you'll want to download the X11 SDK if you haven't already.
(that's for truly vanilla Unix-oriented apps. You still might throw the OS X SDK in there, just in case you want to compile something with a little OS X specialization thrown in)

Mithras,
Thanks.
I guess the BSD SDK wasn't checked because that was installed from the start.
Cheers.
