I tried searching this but could find nothing. My friend just tried to install the new update. His computer keeps hanging on the startup screen (the screen with the spinning symbol). He tried to restart a few times and got the same problem. Can anyone give me some info. on what he might do.


Here is what my friend had to say:

"Hey there, i'm the friend with the problem. I've already reset the PMU, tried to start in safe mode ( it will not go past the grey startup screen ) and have now tried single user mode. It is currently stuck at this line in bootup

BSD root: disk0s9, major 14, minor 9"


Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Boot into single user mode using command s at start-up. Then run fsck -y to check the file system for damage. Run it until no errors occur. Then reboot.

Had (have) the same problem doing a archive and reinstall right now

What hardware are you running? I have a DP533, 1Gb with GeForce3.
