I don't have a firewall on... does anyone know what could be causing my torrent downloads to go slower than crap? I tried using BitTorrent to download torrents, but the torrents wouldn't start. Now I'm using Opera's built in Torrent client and am getting like, 20kbps down. This is really annoying

Some ISP's are limiting bandwidth to torrents.

Are you behind a router? There are any number of reasons why your torrents might be going slow. I don't know how good Opera's torrent client is, either.

You can check out Azureus's Wiki on how to get faster downloads. Even though some of it's specific to Azureus, a lot applies to any Torrent client you might be using.

Probably you have a firewall blocking ports you need. Check both the firewall in your router and OS X's software firewall.

Torrent also depends on the number of people seeding the file. If it's not terribly popular, it could be slow.

Try out Azuras, it's probably the best Bit Torrent client out there. It also has tons of settings for bandwidth.
