I have been over to SkiDubai a few times but haven't tried it yet. Being from the Lake Tahoe region and growing up on skis, I do need to try it. Perhaps when the weather heats up and its too hot to go outside.

I saw the making of that on Extreme Engineering on the Discovery Channel. Was pretty cool.

That sums up Dubai nicely. ;-)

Actually it is well thought out. The snow is used to cool the entire mall (second in size to only Mall of America) and the melt water is used to irrigate the surrounding area. It took two months to cool it down, but it is well insulated and keeping it cold is not nearly as hard now as cooling it in the first place.

Uhhhhh...well, Mall of America is itself third in size in the world, behind the West Edmonton Mall in my town and a shopping centre in Beijing I think.

EDIT: after Googling to fact-check, it seems no one knows who has the largest mall. There's multiple claims for first, second, third, etc. place.

Looks like a lot of fun. Just goes to show what happens when you have too much money. Luxury of the rich.
