EDC in tactical circles stands for "Every Day Carry", i.e. what do you carry in your pockets with you on a daily basis...

I usually carry the following on most days...of course it all depends on my attire for that given day...

Cell phone

Keys

Seiko Chronograph watch

Garmin eTrex

One of...
Spyderco Delica, Spyderco Delica II, or Leatherman Juice S2

One of...
Surefire L4, Surefire E2e, Surefire E1e w/KL4, or Inova X5T

and NO GUN. No such thing as civilian carry permits in the Dominion of Canada, but if I had a choice, it would be Para-Ordnance Parry Carry (Made in Canada (Scarborough, ON) I might add!)...

All this usually fits with into my Dockers Recode Khakis, these pants are the greatest for gadget people...

What do other MacNN'ers EDC?

That's it. If I'm carrying anything else on my persona it is purely by chance.

Why is a gun so important to you that you would consider carrying one on a everyday basis? In thinking about what my reply would be it never occured to me that a handgun might be part of my "EDC".

Some times the best tactical EDC is absolutely nothing at all. At least that's the way my cousin travels. No wallet, no ID, no metal objects, no gadgets. I think he's paranoid or something, but it's brilliant.

I would like to, and would, if I had a smaller camera. My Coolpix 995 is a little too big to carry around with me wherever I go.

That's funny. A lot of people here use debit cards. Maybe they didn't know debit card=check card? Also, a lot of store employees don't know the difference between debit cards and credit cards. A store I used to work treated them exactly the same when ringing the customer up.

Wallet.
Work cell phone (Hey, did'ja know that NexTel stands for "Next Time use a telephone"? "cuz NexTel sucks.)
Work Keys
Car or motorcycle keys.
Quit smoking, so no smokes or lighter (well sometimes still a lighter as I'm a closet pyromaniac)
Shades.
If I'm lucky some change or 2 bucks for a nice big cup of coffee from Starbucks, 'cuz I like the feeling I get knowing that an American company is making millions while some poor coffee growin' fella is gettin' squat.

That's. My work ensemble is different. Backhoe, Front end loader, welding equipment, cutting torch, yech yech yech.

I used to take my CoolPix 885 everywhere I went (in the car.)
As far as things I carry in my pockets:
Left pocket: car keys and fair size knife
Right pocket: pocket watch
Back: wallet

I used to carry a laser, compass and lighter, but my pockets were too bulgy and it looked, well, I just stopped carrying all that stuff.

Every day carry?

Keys, on a carabiner (a real one, not the cheap promotional ones, it does come in handy), a photon III LED light and usb jump drive

Swiss Army Striker II Watch

Wallet

Sunglasses (several pairs in rotation)

Microtech UDT knife

credit/debit cards

lip balm

iPod

What ever book I happen to be reading

I often carry a back pack with other misc gear.

Someone asked about carrying a weapon (first post maybe?), and I do at times carry a Baretta 96G Elite due to work related concerns, but I do that as little as possible.

I'm a guard at a psychiatric hospital, and there have been incidents when indavertantly running into patients on the street. Same kind of problem that corrections officers run into woth former inmates. I have a long commute, so these problems don't effect me as much as some of my co-workers, but it does happen, and it's better to be on the safe side, especially when it comes to your friends and family.

Great thread. Was just discussing this the other day.

For me:

- Wallet (Money, Credit Cards, ID, License,... various other plastic)
- Sony Clie T665C
- LG vx6000 Cell Phone
- Keys (House, dorm, whistle, USB Memory key, sometimes car keys)
- Pen
- Watch

Overall, that's over 1/2 GB Memory, and over almost 1lb of geeky gear.

Good observation, maybe some feel it's a personal thing and didn't want to post it? nah.

My EDC:

Wallet:
A few forms of ID (license, Student ID, Gym ID, Work ID, others)
Savings Cards (Sams Club, Shaws, Stop & Shop, Vitamin World, GNC, others)
Debit Card
Condom
More receipts than cash ( kinda wierd how that happens)

Watch (different ones for different days)
Sunglasses (black or brown)
Black leather gloves (it's cold this time of year)
Keys with bottle opener and car alarm attached
Pack of Newports and a lighter
Nokia Cellphone
Small can of mace ( I've been sprayed by bouncers a few times in the past, this time I intend to spray back! )

You know my EDC usually depends on where I'm going that day, but the above are usually things I bring everywhere. And I almost always leave the weapons in the car.

Hrmm I'm gonna have fun with this one.

*A few keys.. a gold one too.. found them in these freaky scary old places one day..
*Money.. normally carried in a bag..

Ok that was weird nuff.

iPod, keys (lots of them actually), watch, wallet, hand cleaner, firewire cable, camera (sometimes), earbuds.

At times random gameboy like systems or other random electronic/comp parts.

One time I forgot I had a PCI card in my pocket until I laid down.. that HURT.

It's surprising how much stuff I have laid out on the end table for tomorrow morning, though I've stopped carrying a PDA to lighten the load:

iPod+Sony noise-canceling earbuds
1 credit card+$100 cash+driver's license in a card envelope
SE T616 phone
Seiko Kinetic watch
1GB Memory Stick Pro
Sensa Platinum Pen
Sony DSC-T1 digital camera
Keys

I did a search online for everyday carry and found you guys. Some of you guys carry almost as much as I do each day.

I hope this is not considered spam. I opened a forum yesterday just on the topic of everyday carry so I don't think it competes with anyone. I think if the fourm grows, it could lead people back to this place who have the interest.

I kind of thing our forum will not compete with anyone but if successful be a hub where unrelated forums exist.

We are a forum for anyone that carries alot of stuff.

I hope we get in a direction soon where people can find good ways to carry lots of items comfortable and without damaging them.

Cool idea. I never would have thought of forums for such a topic, but I like it. I'll keep my eye on it, could get some good, useful advice from such a place if it takes off.
