Hey fellas/gals....

My university is about to put some of these machines (specs below) up for auction, and before I place a bid, I wanted some input on how to upgrade the machine.

With regards to the video card, what options do I have? I do not play games and the only requirement is that I have the ability to hook up 2x20" or 2x22" wide displays. The vid card that comes with the machine I believe has a DVI and an ADC slot. I think this model comes with 3 open PCI-X slots (133MHz and 2x100MHz)

So can I hook up 2 DVI displays to that card? Do all I need is a ADC-DVI connector?

Or should I just buy a new/used card? If so, any recomendations?

It can only support 2 hard drives right?

Any other known issues that this model has?

And finally... how much do you think this machine is worth?

(In the past when the university sells electronics, they are usually sold at very low prices, thus my interest. i.e. last year I got two Lexmark network laser printers for $20!!!)

TIA

Yes, and yes.

It can only support 2 hard drives right?

Provided that's the single-processor version, those seem to be selling used for ~$1000.00, depending. You'll want a little extra cash for more RAM.

I have one of these for my main machine. Definitely put aside some money for RAM. The performance increase when I went from 1.25 GB to 3 GB was amazing.
