I got my computer back from Apple after a repair. The repair was to replace the LCD screen on my MacBook Pro (2008) which had LEDs that were not working.

Anwyay, since I got the computer back, I noticed that there is a bunch of unix code that appears at startup and shutdown (before the GUI appears in startup, and at the very end of the shutdown process). It is similar to the code you see on a windows box prior to the windows GUI kicking in.

I don't recall this as happening before I sent the machine in for repair (but am not 100% certain). Is this normal? If not, is there something I need to do (please tell me I don't have to reinstall the OS, unless of course, I have to reinstall he OS). I have not noticed it causing problems as I use the computer.

It is a MacBook Pro (2008) 2.4GHz, 4GB Ram, Mac OS 10.5.4

Thank you,

O
B unce!

It sounds like they set the verbose nvram flag. Try this command:

sudo /usr/sbin/nvram boot-args=""
