iAmJealousBecauseIcan'tPay$149 for a little webcam

Besides then you have to pay for 10.3 to get ichat 2 anyway. Talk about getting arseraped twice!

or you can buy iChatAV for $30, or use the camera on another app, or not buy the camera, or by the camera and not Panther, or Panther and not the camera, or buy an iBot - do you see the theme here - you have a choice ! It's hardly getting "arseraped" as you so subtly put it.

But when the public beta of iChatAV expires, you'll have to shell out $$$ again.

I don't have much self-control either, but did have enough to cancel my credit cards. Looks like that new G5 is going to have to wait a while....

Whew! 10.1.5 here.

Increasingly, after every keynote I see my G3/400 tower as a loving but stupid dog. I really want a smart new G5. I just have to figure out whether to sell a kidney or a child.

So what would iChat video over ADSL do to my monthly download limit?

That was my first thought -- "crap, dai went and bought a G5. Well, at least the Zelda icons will go faster on it for him."

Yeah me too. Damn that 1-click buying! Oh well, I "needed" a new webcam anyway.

If only this backup could be finished by now so I can try out panther on my 17" PowerBook

kewl...

Maybe, you can be bothered to check something out for us/me since the requirements for iSight on the apple store mention you need iChatAV...

Does it work well with other apps? (like BTV Pro, iVisit, iMovie, etc?)

also the specs don't mention this: how long is it's firewirecable?

I have a 450 and to get a little more life out of it I'm going to get an 800MHz or 1GHz Processor for it. at least that will give my old dog a little more life.

BTW that iSight is one COOL camera. The image is VERY clear.

Congrats, dai. I thought you ordered a G5 as well....

The SO and I will be living apart for three months or so, and the iSight will be our main communication means.

Any further comments in use will be appreciated (or I suppose I could wait for reviews).

Thanks for trying iMovie and preparing me about the cable...

BTV Pro is a wonderful app that will do just straight capture, time lapse, motion detection, frame averaging and a whole slew of other neat things... It's sitting on my HD for over a year now, begging for me to register it! And i will when the right cam comes along, my current USB ToUcam just doesn't cut it. You can find BTV Pro on versiontracker or, even simpler, by paying a visit to http://www.bensoftware.com/

So dude, hit us with some screenshots. Big ones, please, so we can see what kind of quality you're getting.

What kind of pics does the frame capture make?

Sometimes I wish I had that lack of self control, and just bought the latest gadgets for the hell of it.

Wait a minute, that's not self control; that's because I'm lazy and cheap. And because I'm still using an old rev. A iMac running 8.6.

I think that it is going on very well without iSight! I'm afraid that my optimism is false!

hehe... like I said, lazy and cheap. Plus I don't see much point in upgrading the OS if I don't need it. I'll probably be getting another computer sometime soon, maybe after they start shipping them with 10.3. There are more cool features and gadgets and stuff with OS X from what I've seen.
