i just got an intel imac 17" which has optical out, and since i received it ive been dying to replace the 2.1 altec lansing speakers i have (no bass control and terribly old). any recommendations on a nice set of 5.1 speakers for somebody on a mediocre budget (say $200) or am i better just getting a real nice 2.1 set and stick with analog? i really like using my volume control on the apple remote and would hate to see that go with the optical connection. so basically im asking on your opinions for a decent 5.1 or a real nice 2.1 and if the benefits of one out weigh the other.

i know there are threads about this subject, but they're rather old and i didnt want to thread hijack.
NOW YOU SEE ME! 2.4 MBP and 2.0 MBP (running ubuntu)
