GPS watch for children HereO has launched through an Indiegogo pre-ordering campaign. Designed for young children ages three years and up, the real-time GPS tracking device works in sync with the HereO family location app (available for iOS and Android) as to enable parents to know their children's whereabouts directly on their mobile phones. Family members using the app can share their locations with each other, check-in, send instant messages and view historical locations.

The HereO is intended for everyday wear, with its battery lasting up to 24-72 hours per charge, depending upon usage. Its optional child-proof locking mechanism prevents the device falling off during play, and its included panic alert can be easily triggered by the child in any scary situation. The HereO is water-resistant, and equipped with a built-in SIM card that is compatible in 140 countries without roaming fees.

The HereO GPS watch will be available in pink, turquoise, red and blue, with pre-order pricing starting at $100, with a six-month in-app subscription included. The retail MSRP will be set at $150 for the watch, with a three-month subscription included. Monthly subscription rates otherwise will be priced at $5 per month.

Grovemade and Yacht partner to launch limited edition maple iPhone case

Grovemade, a designer of handcrafted wooden and leather accessories, has collaborated with Yacht and artist Tim Lahan to introduce a limited edition iPhone case. Comprised of Eastern Hardrock Maple, the case has a printed Yacht design, inspired and created for Yacht's new single and music video "Plastic Soul." The case is crafted through milling, machined to allow access to all connectors and ports, with a wooden actuated button for easily locking the phone. A cassette single for the track as well as a free digital download of the song comes with every purchase of the limited edition iPhone case. The maple case is built for iPhone 5 and 5s, with only 100 units produced. Priced at $120, the limited edition iPhone case can be purchased through Grovemade.

Alright let me get this straight:

[1] GPS is for finding out where on Earth you are. Children stay at home most of the time! Why do they need a GPS?
[2] If children go out, then a parent or supervisor could just tell them where they are!
[3] GPS uses A LOT of battery life.
[4] GPS also tends to be inaccurate. Altitude readings vary by 100 feet, and distance readings can vary by 22 miles especially on the smaller portable devices. Meanwhile, people's houses are less than 22 miles wide and less than 100 feet tall, so a watch GPS provide no new information whatever.

That's four reasons why a GPS should not be put on a children's watch. Waste of money and battery.
