This is a really dumb problem. I was playing with Internet Connect, I set up a VPN and now I want to remove it because the icon is bugging me on my menubar. I can't. I've followed the Help document (go to Network preferences/under Show Network Port Configurations/delete the VPN from there). I can't even see the VPN connection in my Network Port Configurations so there's nothing to delete. But the annoying-as-hell VPN icon is still there.

How the heck do I remove this thing?

Your help is much appreciated.

Hold the command (Apple) key then drag the VPN icon out of your menubar. Works with other "menubar widgets" as well.
