about one third of my music on my computer is not playing correct at all. when i go to play a song (not all of them are like this) it will only play for a second or two then skip to the next song. some of the effected songs i can play for about 30 second and then skip over the bad spot by jumpin forward a few seconds later in the song and continue listening. i have a g4imac that im useing and i have been playing off of one of my backup drives. i dont know what is happening but it would be nice if i didnt have to re-download every song onto the back up .

what app are you using to play the songs?

Try another app to see if they still get cut short.

Deinstall whatever third-party plug-ins you have installed for iTunes.

I had the same thing happen. A few of my Led Zeppelin albums were affected by it (not all the song but most of them). I had to rerip them. Last week I encountered another song that had the problem but I didn't bother fixing it.

I don't have and never had any third party plug ins or anything.

a friend of mine just called me and all the music that I gave her this weekend was doing this. I think it is in the way that the music is copied to the iTunes folder because I got her to try to play it in the quicktime preview and it was skipping on that too.
