Well, the release notes don't say anything, so I'm not hopeful, but:

Can someone check if Time Machine supports Airport Disks on the 802.11n Airport Extreme? (Of course I mean without using the defaults write… command in Terminal.)

Yeah mine is only 180mb, and stacks is sorted now for all those bothered. Also, there is an icon on the top toolbar for time machine.

There isn't an airport extreme base station update me thinks.

EDIT: there is now appearing to be a 'leopard graphics update' appearing in my software update which is 47MB (or near enough)

You know, the Airport doesn't need a firmware update to copy files onto it...

Then again, I'm not having any of the wide spread airdisk problems that people keep reporting...

And, no, no TM backups to AirDisks.

EDIT: Also, you can't turn the transparent menu bar off.

Worst. Update. Ever.

One thing to note, new shared disk icons:

My friend was talking about safari being updated or something in 10.5.2 - it could well have been.

Time Machine tries to start the backup to the AirDisk, but in the end fails. Not sure why. Probably does need an update to the airport extreme. Maybe when time capsule ships?

Sounds groovy. I've just taken my G4 PB in to get its hard drive replaced, but it has been looking forward to this update, yes indeed!

Meantime will try it on mini this evening. Does it by chance make the iTunes dashboard widget work -at all-? It has never worked quite correctly, and Leopard really messed with it - just wondering if I'll be writing yet another bit of feedback to this effect this evening....

System Prefs... Desktop & Screen Saver. There's an option for Translucent Menu Bar.

I also notice a little Time Machine icon in my menu bar to save me a few clicks when I want to see when I last backed up.

According to this you can:

About the Mac OS X 10.5.2 Update

Desktop

* Addresses legibility issues with the menu bar with an option to turn off transparency in Desktop & Screen Saver preferences.
* Adjusts menus to be slightly-less translucent overall.

Anyone know if it fixes the Secure Erase issue with the Finder? It isn't listed as one of the fixes.

Like bradbissell said, Time Machine starts to try backup to Airport Disk, but then fails.

Time Machine seems to be seeing my Airport drive since inside Time Machine preferences it shows my drive name and the correct amount of free disk space.
Hopefully an update to Airport Extreme is coming out soon.

I wonder why some are getting 341, some 180. Of those who are getting 341, do you currently have 10.5.0 or 10.5.1?

So AFTER I update to 10.5.2 I get another software update called "Leopard graphics update" which is recommended for all 10.5.2 users. WTF??!

No, you don't need a firmware update to copy files to an AirDisk, but the Airport Base Station does NOT verify that a write was successful. In other words, it passes the data to be written to the USB hard drive, but doesn't check to make sure it actually got written or that it got written correctly.

This is fine for manual copies, as the user can verify that the copy was successful, but for something like Time Machine, which is "set it and forget it," it's a potential critical problem. What if something happens and the Time Machine backup is screwed up somehow? And you don't find out about it until you need it later, and then you're screwed.

A firmware update would be needed to solve this problem. You can turn on the Time Machine backup to AirDisk right now with a "defaults write" command (hidden preference), but it's unreliable.

341 meg on both my intel & ppc macs, both at 10.5.1.
safari IS faster on the intel (am still downloading on my powerbook, but it's important to post as much as possible and as often as possible about os x updates... )

I reckon they forgot about it, and then realised, it was one of these kinda moments:

"SH*T, WE'VE FORGOTTEN TO RELEASE THE GRAPHICS UPDATE WITH IT"

I get them all the time.

More likely it was "Oh, sh*t, this update is already 180MB, maybe we should split it up into two updates to make it seem smaller. Which is the largest non-critical fix we can split out?"
