Here's a good, free graphics program.
GIMP
Wilber loves Apple
This one works with Leopard. It also has some new features we needed, like Fade.

So the previous problem with Gimp crashing on Leopard (when you try using specific tools) has been fixed?

mcgiant, GIMP is great, but have you tried Seashore? It is a cocoa Mac-only version of a stripped down GIMP. It isn't as feature-rich, but it performs well and can do many light-weight tasks. Unfortunately it hasn't been updated in a while, but I still use it regularly for quick image editing.

Well, welcome, Applefan2009.
Apple apps like the i.... products are not considered shareware.
They are regular software that you have to buy.
But, to be honest, this thread has more evolved into "Top 5 apps (freeware, shareware & paid)", so you don't stick out too much.

*sigh*
Quicksilver is just too buggy for me, it crashes, is a memory hog etc.
ISnt' the current built more than 2 years old ?
I wish they'd continue developing it, I'd even pay money for it.

Lately have have been taking a liking to Appbodega.
I also enjoy
burn app
VLC
dvdhunter - good alternative to dvdpedia. Basically dvdpedia for the cheap folk. I do like dvdpedia quite a bit as well.
eversave - I don't use it often but it sure is handy.
iphone backup extractor. - this app has saved my skin a couple times. I had a couple note sync errors and it erased my notes from the device, so I used this app to extract the previous backup so I could restore my notes.
Max - one of the best audio converters out there and it's free.
Adium - you all know it, I love it.
MAMP - this is a critical piece of software for me. I use it nearly daily. It's always running.
color schemer studio, ccsedit, and transmit also get a lot of use.
I think those are about it. Other than preview and the new expose/ finder/ quicklook options in snow leopard.

Hey, I also cant seem to narrow down to 4-5, I think a small list is here which provides a lot of utilities from situation to situation. But they are must have and they are NOT in any order:
1. Onyx - Maintenance and optimization tool for OS X
2. Apple Jack - Clean up your system
3. Virtual Box - To try out Ubuntu or run Windows to stream NetFlix movies online
4. Seashore - Image Editor
5. Transmission/ Xtorrent - Torrent client for your Mac
6. Bean - Lean and Mean Wordprocessor
7. ClamXav - Anti-virus for your MAC
8. Carbon Copy Cloner - Backup and Cloning Utility
9. Skype - Make voice calls
10. VLC Media Player - Alternate to Quicktime
11. Perian - To improve Quicktime's capability

It supposedly does the meta tagging automatically; however, since MMM is a recently released new paid app, this looks more like spam.

Handbrake is a great tool but clunky for doing batched processing and not really automated. Magic Media Marker not only automates transcoding (using HandBrake) but adds metadata and drops the file video into iTunes. It uses growl, which I've combined with Prowl (which I would have added to my list but is an iPhone app) to push notices to my phone when encodes are done. If you have an AppleTV it's a very slick way to automate video processing so you don't have to do it yourself.
It's one of my top 5 apps, you generally have to pay for shareware apps so I'm not sure why I'm spamming.

Shareware lets me try an app before buying/paying.
Can I do this with Magic Media Marker ? I think not.

Here are some of my favorites:
1. Onyx
2. 1Password
3. VLC
4. SuperDuper!
5. Transmission
I only listed 5, as that is what the thread is entitled. But, there are 5 more that are good (and one of them is so basic, not sure why I left it off the list):
Firefox (of course!)
Handbrake
Fastest Free YouTube Downloader
Carbon Copy Cloner
ClamXav
