How come beautiful actresses always sound dumb during interviews?

Watching this Jessica Simpson person that so many people seem infatuated with. Seems shallow. Ditto for Brittney Spears, Paris Hilton, Pamela Anderson, etc.
In a way, I resent that we have put models/actresses/entertainers on a pedestal just because they are fun to look at. I guess I'm just put off that they have made it so far without having any real skills (relatively speaking), and without having to work hard (relatively speaking).
Anybody else feel the same way?
Something tells me I'm the only one...

You might be onto something, I don't have a very big bust... I do have beautiful breasts though.

Beauty CAN retard or halt development of other abilities, skills and or talents.
"City girls just seem to find out early, how to open doors with just a smile..."
How do we know that without beauty these girls would just be average girls with average intellect and average looks?
It might be that they are just average in all other ways except appearance.
Beautiful breasts are a plus but what good are they doing you or us on teh intranets?

Didn't Natalie Portman and Claire Danes go to some snooty schools?
Besides, just because they're not good at making conversation doesn't mean they don't have other (not just physical) merits...

EDIT: Fixed. I guess I was thinking more about fair besson3c's post than my own post.

Perhaps, but several of them come across as being as dumb as a post when they open their mouths.
I'm sure the same could be said of some male stars, but female stars seem more transient. How many female stars do you know of that get roles like Harrison Ford gets with a partner 20-30 years younger than him?

Times are changing. Demi Moore has Ashton Kutcher and the trend is growing.
Life sometimes imitates art.
Art sometimes imitates life.
Just wait. It'll happen.

This is actually one of the reasons why I never hung out with the ubber hott girls in high school... they were incredibly stupid. That said once I got to college I met some genuinely good looking girls (I'd say several of them are significantly better looking than the actresses you listed) who also are in some cases smarter than I am... that said I still make people laugh more than they do! Yes that's right... some day I'll get some action with the funny fat man routine! Honest!

Are you surprised a female could match or even exceed your intellect?

When people ask you to make them laugh... really there's only one thing that you can do that anyone will really find funny. And that's insult them. Most of the humour I use has to do with voice inflection and sarcasm. That said online all that is lost and I simply sound like an ass.

Do not try this in a British pub, kiddies. Unless you want your ass whooped.

I don't think I would say that to anyone who looked like they'd beat me up... that said, considering my size and the fact that people can generally tell that I'm joking... I don't have much to worry about.

Very true, he didn't so much describe beautiful women as he did Hollywood's scrawniest. I swear Paris really needs a butt.

I think there's a serious issue here. I'll find it eventually....
Notice how frequently beautiful women are asked dumb questions in interviews. "How do you keep your hair looking so good on a long photo shoot?" "What's your best diet secret?" "Who does your nails?" What a bunch of crap! How about questions about the woman's next big job? What does she think about this or that political issue (and yes, most "celebrities" have about as much grasp of the real world's political issues as granola bars do, but at least it would be a good question), or even what she thinks about the modeling/acting business as a whole?
Harrison Ford volunteers time (and his airplanes) giving disadvantaged kids flights-and he has actually helped in some serious search and rescue stuff, mostly from his ranch. When he's interviewed, they ask him about his planes and what he's doing with his ranch. Why not ask people like Jessica Simpson what she does off-set, and where she wants to go with that? Duh! How can anyone sound dumb talking about stuff they are really interested in?
Now, how about some good pictures?!?!

IMHO, many famous people don't have a foundation of knowledge/education to draw from... many overcome that, but many don't.
New wealth compounded by celebrity status creates an environment where education becomes rather unimportant.

Interesting point. However, I'd argue the part about famous folks not having a foundation of knowledge and education to draw from... ...in many cases they've had education - in their chosen field. Ask a plumber how to manage the national interest rate and he'll look at you blankly; ask an economist how to install a central heating system and chances are he'll do the same.
