I'm a total noob to mac gaming but I have an interest in the halo franchise. I have 2 questions about it,
1. Is there any way to play halo 3 on mac?
2. Can someone recommend a good controller for it?

1. No, its only on the xbox 360 at the moment.
There was a version of Halo 2 that ran on PPC/Intel Macs I believe.

Halo 3 is Xbox 360-only. Halo 2 runs on the Xbox, Xbox 360 and Windows. The original Halo was released on Xbox, Windows and Mac OS X.

Not to sure about Halo but my xbox 360 wired controller works, just plug it into a spare usb port. Although not all games work with it such as NFS, I know that Bioshock, COD 4, HellGate, Gears of War, and Crysis work just fine with the controller.
Forgot to mention that the above games are for XP/Vista. If you do go with the 360 controller then you might also want to use USBoverdrive to help set up the controller.
