You may find that many people use the iTunes controlling features of the swiss-army knife programs, Butler and Quicksilver. I use Butler to control iTunes, since I don't think running yet another program is worthwhile when Butler can do it just fine.

I use iTunes to control iTunes. What many people do not realize, the program comes with a user interface.

i use imote, a freebie that i can run invisibly (ie thru key commands, ie: control-space to play or pause, control arrows for volume up, down, next track, previous)

also has menubar access, but i like it 'invisible'.

I use anything that I can assign hotkeys to since I map them to my remote control (using 1-5 to assign ratings etc.).

No, you're not. I like to go from one app to another when I do different things, so I use iTunes to control iTunes, Word to do word processing and Firefox to browse the Internet...

Another vote for Sizzling keys. No need to clutter up the menubar or the screen when all you want is universal keyboard shortcuts.
