I ran the 10.4.7 update on my G4/733 tower. The system hung while it was installing the update and now I have a 10.4.6 finder that keeps relaunching, though the system says that it's 10.4.7. The finder hangs every minute or so and automatically relaunches. I expect if I could attempt the 10.4.7 install again, that might help. Suggestions?

I would've thought that would be the thing to do, but now the machine won't boot at all.

Sounds like time to reinstall OS X and then apply the update. Bad news...

the Finder IS 10.4.6 in os 10.4.7 (at least on non-intel macs...)

this is the case, anyway, on my powerbook and my roommate's imac...

If the machine won't boot, then do an archive & install.
I free'd my mind... now it won't come back.

The Finder's version on Intel Macs is 10.4.6 (for OS X 10.4.7), also.

I'm having the same problem with my mac mini the finder just keeps relaunching itself every 7 seconds or so. It opens a finder window constantly, but I can stop the finder window from opening by holding the shift key down but the finder just keeps relaunching. I have reinstalled all the updates from the combo to the single and I even tried to downgrade by going back to 10.4.6 but I couldn't install (and then the trick is to click on the update before the finder relaunches itself). I mainly use the mini for so lite video editing and encoding. I installed the same updates on my laptop and have had none of these problems (thank god).

I have a first generation mac mini.
