Who else is watching this utterly brilliant docu-drama?

I've been quite obsessed with the events surrounding Chernobyl for years now and this show is an incredibly accurate and, at times, terrifying look into the events that unfolded in the hours, days, and months after reactor 4s explosion. I've gotten several of my friends hooked as well and they all agree it's some of the finest television in recent memory. There's only one more episode left, airing on Monday, so it's not a big commitment but I guarantee you will learn something you never knew and there will be scenes with unimaginable tension, horror, and sheer madness.

Seen the trailers but not felt the need.

Will definitely now give it a go.

Do all of the Russian people inexplicably speak in a British accent so that Americans know that they're "foreign"?

The actors/actresses speak in their native accents, so Stellan Skarsgard sounds Swedish, but yes a number of the actors/actresses have varying levels of British accents. Listening to the podcast the creator did not want phony-sounding Russian accents so it's not really "inexplicable" to have your cast use their natural speaking tone. Within 5 minutes you won't even notice anyways.

Yeah, unless you commit to Russian actors and subtitles why bother IMO.

2 episodes in. Fantastic.

Totally hooked.

Frightening.

The depiction of the workers disbelief and the way the state has strangled people’s ability to think and react is incredible to watch.

I find that statistically quite unlikely.

Have any of your pets been selling radioactive material to blacklisted states without your knowledge?

All three of my cats needed treatments that gave them radioactive poop.

Just caught the final episode. It was one of the most compelling and riveting TV shows of the last decade. Superbly acted, immaculately placed and a visual treat whilst being an emotional sledgehammer.

1,345 stars out of 10.

If you haven't already, start the podcast by the creator and Peter Segel, it's a great compliment to the show with a lot of ancillary info.
