I understand there is a new round of Google Voice invites going out. If anyone has a spare, I'd much appreciate you sending it my way.

Please PM for email if you can accommodate.

Thanks.

I'm pretty sure that these are going out to people who signed up through Google Voice to be sent an invite from Google, not from existing users.

Also: it's REALLY annoying and tacky to beg for invites to beta services here; nobody does it for any other site, and Google Voice shouldn't be the exception.
Sell or send me your vintage Mac things if you don't want them.

on the same page even
http://forums.macnn.com/89/macnn-lou.../google-voice/

but at least i didn't get snarky remarks. since when is asking for invites tacky? and yes, people have been doing it for other sites too, not just google ones.

two new ones in fact, recently:

http://forums.macnn.com/search.php?searchid=2155903

edit: changes from this year, to recently. the threads where bumped from 2008. and several more from past years too. so this isn't "new".

Why is it tacky? People have been doing it here for years.

Maybe we should ask for a "Send me an invite" sticky thread...

Might make more sense than people creating new threads to beg for invites to stuff...

If you want in invite to Google Voice, you're going to have to ask for one through their request form:

https://services.google.com/fb/forms/googlevoiceinvite/

It doesn't appear they're handing out invites for existing users to distribute. I logged in to my account and saw nowhere to invite new users.

I've gotten and sent invites from this forum for years. Sorry for any offense caused.

I was not aware they were only coming straight from Google- I wrongly assumed it was following the same pattern as GMail and Grand Central or user generated invites. Again, apologies.

Got my Google Voice transfer from Grand Central today.

The funny part about it? I went through my old emails to figure out which email address I used for my GC account and found this from Oct. 2007:

shifuimam has invited you to open a free GrandCentral account.
I had a good LOL considering the turn this thread has taken.

Yes, because giving an invite to someone you talk to regularly online is totally the same as begging for one on a forum.

Man shif, you really seem to have an attitude today.

Asking for invites is far from new or tacky here in the Lounge. Many of us have known each other on here for over a decade. I even have a few as facebook friends and PS3 friends.

No, I'm just sick and tired of Starman holding a grudge over my head for something that happened....about twenty months ago. I know he's never going to get over it, but this continuation of little snide remarks directed at me is stupid, petty, and immature.

We were friends, I told him about GrandCentral, he said it sounded cool, so I offered him an invite. It's not remotely the same as posting on a forum to beg for invites. Personally, I find the latter annoying and spammy. If you want an invite to a beta service, go to one of the many sites out there designed for such a purpose.

I just thought it was funny you jump on people here about Google Voice invites when it was you that got me the GC invite in the first place.

It has nothing to do with The Grudge, as much as it does with your personality in general about ragging on people and getting on your portable soapbox.

Actually, the fact that "The Grudge" still exists is pretty damn pathetic. I've said it before, and I'll say it again - you need to learn to not be so eternally bitter whenever something goes wrong in your life. I doubt that sending you some cash would make you move on. I doubt that anything is going to make you move on.

It's a sad way to live your life.

this OP and my post asking should have been merged or he could have asked in mine; but even if there are two threads on the same thing...it isn't making the lounge any less of a place to visit.

now, onto YOUR snide remarks...you could have just NOT posted in either thread.

it is a sad way to live your life.

I already said it had nothing to do with it. It's your attitude around here. You're constantly in everyone's face, laughing at them, telling them how much they suck and how much better you are than them.

It's a sad way to live your life.

Agreed! Let us not speculate....

On a completely unrelated note (Seriously!), my wife once saw a bumper sticker that said: "I don't trust anything that bleeds for a week and doesn't die". She had this confused look on her face. I did not explain it to her. A couple days later she gets this pissed look on her face during dinner. I said "You understand the bumper sticker now don't you?". She gave me an even dirtier look.

It's a sad way to live your life.

I got a google invoice invite to my primary google address and to another one that I only use for lists and stuff. I think they gave them out based on number of emails or amount of activity for each account because I didn't get invites to any of the other gmail accounts I have.

Then again maybe I only requested it for those two accounts and not the others.
My advice: request the invites from the accounts you use the most just to be sure either way.
