For those of use who use SMS all the time, the addressbook and bluetooth has a great trick. Click on the addressbook's bluetooth sign and you are ready to receive and send SMS directly on your Mac!

All SMS messages that come in to your phone pops right up and you can reply instantly through the computer rather than the tiny keyboard. Its just great design by Apple.

By the way, I paired my SE T610 and SE P800 with the new AL 1.25 PB and would not use anything else now. The Motos are just not there in terms of smoothness of function and synching with the Mac. Funny, even though both the Moto and SE phones are made in China today, the SE phones seem to have a much better quality finish than the Moto.

Yes! I just stumbled upon this feature the other day. It is really cool. I don't send SMS that often, however, I can certainly see how this would be a terrific option for those that do.

By the way, I'm using a Siemens S56 and just love this phone. The Bluetooth capabilities have been flawless with this phone.

i get SMS messages from colleagues and associates all over Europe and Asia. Much cheaper than calling and leaves a record of dates, amounts etc. They are shocked at how quickly I reply to them as they must use the numbers keypad to slowly enter. Even with T9 input method its a pain.

Yeah, V60 came out two years ago or so. V60i came out last year (1.5yrs). So yeah they are older. No bluetooth or anything like that.

But in terms of finish, I think it matches the new Aluminium models the best.

Try texting a 13 year old girl in the UK. They can all type at about 60 wpm on a phone keypad - it's insane!

FYI, there is a petition being circled to save the Sony Ericsson T608.

There is also a discussion on Mobile Tracker Boards about the fate of this phone.

There are also six photos of this phone from various angles in another short article at Unofficial Club Sony Ericsson.

Personally, though, I would rather opt for a phone with a built-in camera so that I can use it to help sell items on eBay�. But those who want the phone can sign the petition to help try to save it.

The Sony T608 is out and some people already have them. From early reports, the reception may not be that great being an internal antenna and all. Head over to sprintusers.com to read about it.

It sucks that the new Z600 has the same crappy non-VGA photo camera as the T610. 640 x 480 would be the minimum for decent use.

I have the graphite shell for my Sony Ericsson T68i and it looks great with my TiBook. (don't like the ice blue model).

The new, updated T610 (I think it'll be called T620) is completly metal colored, very nice looking.

Currently I have Sprint. I've tried T-mobile but coverage sucked here. I really like all of the phones available for the GSM networks though.

I'm just wondering if all of these GSM phones, as long as I get an 'unlocked' one, work on most/all GSM networks such as AT&T and T-mobile?

I bought a new (admittedly unsightly) BHC-10 high capacity battery for $14 off eBay which specs to 25hrs talk time and 715hrs (yes, that's 30 days) standby. I keep mine off at night and for a good part of each day ... and I have to recharge it about once per month with about 8-10 hrs yapping per month. Simple, clean, imminently functional ... just like your powerbook

Yeah, I see what you mean. The keypad on that 630 looks kinda cheap, but maybe it is nicer in person.

I am really diggin my Z600. What I am most impressed with is the build quality and materials. HUGE improvement over all previous SE phones I have seen.

Now I am just wondering what is the deal with firmware. How do you check what firmware you have and if you need to update it. The SE site says nothing about this.

I don't know about your taste, but to me at least, this phone seems far too bulky. I teach English to Japanese and Korean students in Manhattan, and both groups are constantly making fun of this kind of phones for being too oversized.

They like to show me a phone that fits, in its entirety, in the palm of a small hand, and can easily be dialed using only one hand.

Also, personally (and this is also a matter of taste), I prefer multi-function color screen cellular phones. I also wouldn't purchase it unless it were equipped with mMode technology (AT&T's counterpart to NTT-DoCoMo's i-mode), or some similar entertainment-related ability.

How about the Sony Ericsson Z600 in Space Silver and Cosmo Black color? It has most of the features that I'd like in a phone, and it eminently matches the PowerBook:

I paid $465 on ebay and that is what most stores are charging for it.

I have sprint and when I get my 17" powerbook for xmas (WOOHOO) I would like to upgrade my phone to one that I can use it to dial out to a ISP so I can get the internet on my powerbook. Which phone will allow me to do that? I like the T608. Anyone have any experience with the 3G ??? phones? (p.s. I don't know what the 3g is)

The lowest I can find on eBay seems to be $395 (new, sealed box, unlocked). I guess I'm wondering what justifies $400 for a phone when a PDA type phone (Blackberry, Treo, P900) can be had for that kind of price.

Are people simply paying this amount because of style? Or am I missing some major aspect/feature of the phone?

And for those that have them, are they working well with iSync?

Well, I REALLY wanted this phone. Design and features were the big selling points, as well as the reviews on mobileburn and infosync that this was the SE phone finally worth waiting for. They have fixed all the issues people had with the t68 and t610.

By the time the carriers like ATT and TMobile actually carry this phone in their stores, it will be months later and they will still probably charge around $300 for it. To me, it was worth getting it now for a little more money.

As far as iSync, it works perfectly. There were no other nice bluetooth GSM phones out there that would work with iSync.

According to SprintPCS, the only way to purchase the phone is by calling 1-866-pcs auto. I believe its 866, might be 888. I got this information by digging around and contacted a PR at Sprint. Hope this helps.

The T610, z600, Nokia 3650, and Motorola v600 are all GSM phones. T-Mobile, Cingular, and AT&T Wireless (soon to be cingular as well), can handle them.

The T608 was originally intended for Sprint, but it was canceled.

There are currently no Bluetooth-capable CDMA phones, though, as previously mentioned, the Sprint Treo 600 can be outfitted with a Bluetooth SDIO card.

I've actually got a Sony Ericsson z600, and it works REALLY well. iSync works great, and I can access the internet over bluetooth.

It cost (without service activation) about 400 bucks from http://www.just-talk.com/. I'm using it on the T-Mobile network in San Jose, CA, and I don't really have any problems with reception.

(To answer the original question,) If you want a nice (insanely small) phone that matches all those features, go for the Sony Ericsson T68i. It's got bluetooth, supports iSync, has a nice white and shiny-blue design, and should be cheap, now that it's been replaced by the T610.

I personally wouldn't get the T610. It's got an absolutely horrible screen (impossible to view in sunlight, but the z600 has a Thin film diode display, which isn't bad) and the reception isn't that great. Also, the Nokia 3650 is absolutely huge, has the weird circular keypad (which is harder to use than it looks), and the Symbian OS that powers it isn't spectacular.

Wouldn't know anything about the motorola phones.

Is it true that you can use a bluetooth phone like the Sony Erricson T610, which I have , and use it as a remote for itunes and controling DVD's? and when some one calls you it will pause the film and once you hang up the DVD will start playing again?

I'm thinking about getting one of these myself from Just-Talk, maybe with a T-Mobile service plan (that way it's only $245 for the phone), but where can I find these Style-Up� Covers? And what color/colors does the phone come with? Is it random? Or red (like in the picture)?
