This movie was totally awful... and totally awesome at the same time.

It's flawlessly emulates the trashy exploitation films of the 70s… probably because it has about the same production values and acting, partially intentional, but partially because it's super low budget… and then it goes way overboard in camp and gore, but with a super serious Rutger Hauer keeping everything glued together.

It's epic.

DC has a shotgun-toting hobos in wheelchairs problem, so this might hit a little too close to home for me.

I've enjoyed the Tarantino/Rodriguez grindhouse movies, looking forward to this one. I liked how they started off as fake horrible 70s/80s action movie trailers and evolved into real movies.

I'll check that one out. I like Rutger Hauer

Sidenote: If you want even crazier over the top, grindhouse, rodriquez, tarantino flick... check this one out. I saw this last week and over the top is a major understatement.

At the least, I hope this marks a resurgence of the term "hobo".

I've seen Tarantino/Rodriguez so I'm not sure why I want to see this. The entertainment value was partly in the emulation of the grindhouse style, so once I've seen it, I don't need to see it again.

Greatest bad guy line of all time:

edit: added spoiler tags, though it's not really a spoiler, in case some would prefer to be surprised by this awesome one-liner.

I enjoyed the Tarantino/Rodriguez grindhouse flicks quite a bit, but this is nothing like those really. Way lower budget + way more brutal = way more awesome.

Admitedly, this flick might have appealed to a Canadian crowd a bit more as a generalization due to some of the great home-grown cameos; Rob Wells and Jonathan Torrens being at the top of the list.

A whole lot of personal taste goes into whether or not you like a movie like this though, of course - it sure isn't for everybody. I watched it with my brother and his gf and despite her being the tom-boy type she couldn't stand the movie at all.
