June 13?? What is your CTO specification? or did you just order it online? (why not go to the store and get it immediately)

I'm near expecting Apple to tell me tomorrow or Friday that it won't ship for another 6 weeks because of the 7200 RPM drive. If so, I'll cancel and just get the 5400 RPM 160. But so far so good. I just with they'd hurry it up!

Why "July"? The Apple website says 3-5 business days. Am I missing something?

I would buy it at the Apple Store...but I want the high res display, and I have my ADC hardware discount. So its the online store for me.

Hi,

I wanted to order the 17" with a glossy high res screen and the faster (7200) disk, but the shipping date jumped from about 3-5 days to 4-6 weeks! As I can't wait that long, I went for the 5400er disk.

I just received confirmation that my machine has been shipped... but not from any place near here (California):

So I think I'm going to change my order from a 7200RPM to a 5400RPM because I just can't wait another month.

I am also getting Applecare. If I upgrade my MBP to a larger / Faster Hard Drive in the feature, Would I void my warranty? I am guessing I won't if I send it to a certified Apple Tech.

What online places would you guys recommend?

Yes if you send it to a certified tech. Why can't apple make it user replaceable like the MB?

Wow, people seem to be loving the mid-range model... grr... to buy mid-range or not to buy....

I'd have to say mine will be arriving mid-august, by which point I'll have saved up the 240,000Â¥ (or if I somehow go crazy, I may end up buying the mid-range model which is around 300,000Â¥) and can actually buy it.

(Curse my summer vacation plans! Curse you Fuji Rock Festival and Diving Trip to Fiji!)

Why did you spring for the extra RAM from Apple? Seems like a waste of money when you can get it from OWC for $239.

For me it didn't seem like the mid-range model was worth it. Even if I would have had the extra $600 (with tax) I don't think I would have purchased it. I don't need the extra 128MB of V-card memory or the 7200RPM HD. So I'm happy with my low end model. I'm so excited for it to get here, this will be my first apple laptop in 6 years. My first laptop was a 12" iBook G4, so this will be an AWESOME upgrade.

Apple team say the same to me, If I want to change my HD for the 7200rpm one I have to wait between 4-6 more weeks. I have decided to keep with the 160gb and 5400 rpm. I'm sure the computer will be excellent.

My current pc is near to die, so I need my macbook pro early.

The funny thing to me is if I go to the Apple online store now and add the 7200RPM drive for the 17'', it does nothing to the wait time. So maybe its just for the 15. Either way, I'm still waiting for mine to ship. It still says June 6-June 8. So that's tomorrow.

Personally, I paid for the extra RAM from Apple simply because I got a discount that still had me pay extra, but with AppleCare it will be for the whole enchilada. Lately I've seen more bad RAM than in the past and I can't be down for that.

That extra $600 could be better spent on a nice big (new) external drive, several weekends of karaoke, some diving, and a whole lot of mangos. (You know... my life sounds rather good when I put it that way...)

I think I've almost talked myself out of getting the medium model... mostly because as long as it plays Starcraft 2 and Fallout 3 I'll be happy for the next 3 years.

My MBP shipped Woohoo! 17'' Hidef MBP with 4GB of RAM and 160MB 7200 RPM drive. Quite happy, though now I have a weekend and next week to wait for. AND it comes from Shanghai I'm sure so that'll be "great".

Ho, ho .....another happy bunny ..!!
Twelve to thirteen hours - that is good service, is it a 'delivery' record? If so, you could be the winner of a suprise candlelight dinner for two with Steve Jobs ...!

Although on the other hand I should not have expected anything less - after all, Shanghai is geographically nearer to Singapore than it is to the USA and Canada - or for that matter the UK ....!!
