I am bashing my !@#$ head against the wall trying connect to Skype. I receive an error message telling me that 'Skype can't connect.'

The steps I have taken to remedy the situation:
  1. Using AppCleaner I completely trashed the app.
  2. I re-installed the latest version.
  3. I changed my password.

All to no avail.

I would be much obliged if someone could help me out.

Thank you very much in advance.

I am running OS X 10.9.5.
I am trying to run Skype 7.12
What awful customer service from Skype (I was only number 495 in the queue - literally). Microsoft seems to have ruined it.

Skype is down globally right now, there is nothing you can do until MS gets a handle on the situation.
The new Mac Pro has up to 30 MB of cache inside the processor itself. That's more than the HD in my first Mac. Somehow I'm still running out of space.

Thank you P,

I will be delighted if that is the sole cause. Very curious to see....

Scary how reliant I've become on different software....

Again, thank you.

Thank you again, P, for your response.

Indeed, the issue I was having was the same one millions of others were having.

The silver lining of the experience was my exploring alternatives to Skype, and a healthy reminder to check company updates before assuming anything.

Oh, and not least of all, reconfirming how grateful I am for the forums on MaCNN and the general Mac community's perpetual willingness to help each other.

Have a great day!
