For what it's worth, since the Apple article lists only Apple part numbers:
-most Quadra and PowerPC desktops use a standard 1/2 AA, 3.6V lithium battery. Many older machines, and the non-PCI PowerPC Performas (6200, 6300 except for 6360, and 5200, 5300 series) use 4.5V lithium "blocks" which connect to the motherboard using a short wire.
-PowerBook PRAM batteries rarely need to be replaced, as they are rechargeable, but those will need to be Apple replacements.

If PowerBook�s are left unused for stretches of time, or you have a 5300...er broken PowerBook, the PRAM batteries can often go bad. Replacement batteries can be had through SunRemarketing.com

Isn't there some other kind of battery you can use in place of the expensive ones? For example, those 1/2AAs used in the Classic II (and tons of other Macs)...I see batteries very similar to the ones that fit exactly running about 1/2 the price. Obviously, there are some differences like physical size and output, but isn't it possible you could hack something together instead of spending $15 on one battery?
