Hi,

Don't know if this has been asked or not. I did a quick search but didn't see other posts. Will Safari 3.0 be released for Tiger? Or will users have to upgrade to Leopard to enjoy the non-beta version? I don't know how improved 3.0 is but assume it should have more features and hopefully better performance than 2.0.

Thanks.

I believe yes also, considering the amount of machines Apple is leaving behind with the Leopard requirements.

Safari beta 3.0.3 is out and running fine on 10.4.9.

Thanks, but that's not the question. The question is if a non-beta release of Safari 3 will be released for Tiger.

I would like to believe so, but I'm not 100% sure. I think Apple will allow users of the beta to use the release, but I also think that they won't allow it to be downloaded for Tiger.

Well, the license for the beta expires at the end of the year. So, that leaves three options.

1: Safari 3 final is released for Tiger (which I think will happen)
2: Safari 3 beta license will change
3: Tiger users will have to downgrade to Safari 2 at the end of the beta period (unlikely)

I would expect that they release Safari 3 for Tiger. If not just for the fact that they opened up the beta to Tiger users but also that it enables development for the iPhone before the SDK comes out in February.

Apple also released the Safari 2 engine for 10.3 when 10.4 was released.
