it's available now.
http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/

first thoughts: very fast. altho it is still determining the gapless info for 8000 songs. the interface is pretty slick at first glance. the icon is old school (not in a good way). album view seems like it might come in handy. the coverflow view behaves EXACTLY like that beta CoverFlow application that was floating around awhile back.

I just checked it out. Very nice surprises in there. Biggest changes to iTunes since the addition of the music store.

agreed. much more than the minor updates we've been getting recently.

one nice little addition - on the main window the burn button tells you what type of CD you're about to burn (Burn Disc vs Burn MP3 CD). i have a lot of users that will no longer be confused due to that.

What's up with those grey scrollbars? And iPod games? really? Can't wait to see what's available for my shuffle... (I guess audio-based games... trivial pursuit perhaps?)

updating now-

New iTunes updates previous libraries, so you may want to back up your library file and xml file.

I say this because it crashed halfway through my rather large library (39,968 items).
It does back up your library for you, not your xml file though.

Interface looks nice, although I'm still waiting for it to complete updating

It's cool that coverflow is implemented- love that app. Was the technology bought off the coverflow guys? Hope so..

I'm liking the new UI change from aqua. I hope this is a hint of what is to come in 10.5.

Other things I'm noticing.. a feature to backup everything to DVD or CD, the ability to block movies and tv that have certain ratings... and something called "restrict explicit content" -- I've never noticed it before (I guess it could hvae been used previously with the itunes music store) I wonder who's deciding what's explicit...

Yeah, apparently glossy is "out" and gradients are "in". Time to update my wardrobe. It actually looks more like a pro app now; darker, etc.

In the preferences there's an option to control iTunes from remote speakers. Not sure what that is about. Perhaps they are going to introduce a new Airport Express that lets you use a remote to control iTunes.

It does seem faster. Much faster. I'm liking the new iTunes so far. The only thing I noticed was Music Videos no longer show up under movies. in fact they don't show up in the side bar at all. UGH.

It seems only parts of it are new, though … but it definitely feels a lot more fluid than with iTunes 6.

So those scroll bars are normal, eh? I was wondering if something was messed up with my system.

I hope Apple changes them soon - they're pretty ugly.

The new way to sync your iPod is pretty cool. It even tells you how much space is being used and what is using it. Pretty cool. I hope the come out with an update so I can download some games.

Hah, when you plug in an ipod and go to settings you get this very web 2.0-ish graphic of the disk's capacity (complete with reflection)... kinda interesting. The apple web site has been featuring a semi-2.0 aesthetic I've noticed.

I seem to remember seeing this style of scrollbars on some Leopard screenshots (Mail.app html templates), so it may well be that Apple will in fact change them soon... all to this new style.

In Mail app they were white (white Nano/Mac mini style). That looked cool. The taupe ones in iTunes not so much.

If anyone is having crashing problems while updating your library, try manually adding your songs but make sure to delete your "Podcasts" folder from your hard drive.

Realized this was the culprit, only after manually importing a few (thousand) artist's at a time.

Was "gapless" albums available previously? This is great.. finally those techno compilations don't have that awkward gasp between tracks.. (maybe it was there before, but I'm glad to see it now)
