VLC on my PowerBook 1.5 with 768MB of RAM always crashes. Happens when I pause, toggle to fullscreen, check the time, scan back or forward. I get the spinning beach ball and about five seconds later the program closes. I have tried reinstalling the application but it keeps happening. Any suggestions or better programs from playing .avi files? Thanks.

Have you tried 0.8.6b which just came out? It's supposed to fix some crashing issues.

I recently upgraded to 1.8.6b, around the same time as I lost my PPC iMac and got my new Intel iMac. Since then, I've found VLC crashing quite frequently, as well. Certainly more often than when I was using the previous release on my PPC. Not sure what's causing these crashes.
