ironically, the update was to address internet connectivity. It was apparently incompatible with popular AV products, extremely pathetic testing on their part.

Also interesting to note that this was not an update available by the auto-update service...only if you downloaded it on Friday before it was pulled. 600K people!

Next thing will be that it erases your hard drive when you install an MP3 player.

Oh dont even start that... I lost mine because of iTunes 2.0, and Apple refused to do anything about it, even when the offered to send utilities to recover lost drives!

doesnt anyone wait before installing updates anymore? theres a million (err, 600,000) people willing to be your software test guinea pig.

wait and see what happens before you download. its easy. the 10.2.5 update would have ****ed with my powermac and its USB hub. i waited until 10.2.6 when that problem was fixed.

MS released an update a few months back that caused XP to gradually slow to a crawl on some machines. It happened to me, luckily I was smart enough to look into things before I went formating, and was able to just uninstall the update.

Aren't lots of people reporting a memory leak in 10.1.6 that slows the system. Apple doesn't allow you to uninstal an update.

I wish they would allow uninstalling updates. I remember seeing a downgrader at 4OSX.com that would uninstall developer releases, it's too bad Apple couldn't implement this somehow for consumers.
