I got all of them now and i really like the black/white, the ice-blue, and the red/white ones.
the white ones on the other hand look a little bit too much "copy+pasted" for my taste.

the light source of the badge and the book/drive don't totally fit. Although this is the same by almost all of the icons, you only really notice it on the white ones.

Have you tried downloading the white ones?
you can't get much lighter than them =)
these include black on white, white on white, brass on white, and blue on white.

True.. there is a slight difference in angle of light source.
The main object of the icons were created with a light source on the left (note the shadow on the page of the book). (This is the only real light discrepancy in the icon)
The glyphs light sources was upper left (check the black glyphs), and the main objects drop shadow on the desktop was caused by a light source also in upper left.

The Brass, white and blue glyphs also have a light source in the upper left... even though it may not appear that way. Something about the surfaces of these glyphs (the gloss contour) gives it a glow/reflect/refractive boost on the right edge. All the glyphs have the same light source.
