I don't mean to be rude; I read your page and enjoyed what you had written, but other than the default background image and the apple logo on the login window, what else have you done to your MacBook to make it ZX Spectrum like? Is there a rainbow sticker stripe on the back?

@megasad

Well, I didn't put a rainbow sticker on the case because it was brand new and you never know what's going to happen. Which is just as well because the Number Lock key started malfunctioning, so I took it back and got a replacement. And I can't imagine they would have been too pleased if I had retrograded the comp into something from 1982. But yes, you're right, my 'modification' is rather basic. Then again so was the Spectrum with its whopping 16k of RAM.

Okay, okay... my Specbook project is kind of rubbish. I just thought a tip of the hat to the old Speccy would be kind of cool. But short of replacing the keys with bits of grey rubber and getting it to crash all the time I'm not so sure what else to do.

I do however run a Spectrum emulator and set up the tape traps so that all the games have to load in real time with authentic flashing colours and high pitched screeching. Which does increase the Spectrum somewhat.

Here's my setup as of right now (All matching silver with blue lighting, all a coincidence):

Powerbook 15" G4 1.67/80 GB/512 (Soon to be 1Gb)
Old family computer's 80 GB HD thrown in a Metal Gear Box enclosure
Kensington Pilotmouse Mini Bluetooth
30 GB iPod 5.5 Gen
Griffin Powermate
Scott Kelby's Indispensible book The Photoshop CS2 Book for Digital Photographers
And my brand new toy: Wacom Graphire4 6"x8" Tablet
Random crap in the background

Not pictured:
1st Gen iPod nano 2GB White (Friend is borrowing it)
Cell phone (In my pocket, but matches color scheme perfectly)
Other XMas present: Canon PowerShot A540 (Used to take picture)
Samsonite tripod (Same)
MUCH needed USB Hub (Still at store, but have plenty of gift cards to acquire)
Airport Express and Griffin AirBase (Left at school)

Picture isn't as great as the others here, despite all the gear I have for such a thing, but frankly, I'm tired, have to be at work in the morning, and didn't feel like getting my lighting all right... Ha.

I really need to pick up an external display after seeing all these setups (need to find a silver one tho...)

Happy Holidays all.

Yeah, in my rush to get home, I forgot my cleaner at school, so I'm just hoping it'll make it until I get back to school...

Besides, when you're looking at the screen in person, cant see them that much anyway...

My living room has aged brick on three sides, an angled ceiling from about 16' to 25 ' and a loft that I am going to turn into a home theater. Oh yeah, and two skylights above the main room. I walked into the apartment with the rental agent the first time and I said, "I'll take it. How much?"

Although I love the look of the apple monitors you get more for your money when you go dell. Just the simple fact that you get tons of inputs on the dell is enough for me to sway my decision.

Yeah, back in the day it was a fashion no no for the computer and the monitor not to match but it's okay now. I have the 23" Apple Cinema Display and it's okay, not great, mine was made in 2005 but the newer ones look much better and have zero issues. If I had to buy another system all over again I would probably get sucked into the Apple because it's sexy and because of the single cable set up in the back of it. On the other hand I wouldn't buy the Apple immediately without checking out Dell's offerings.
It's not really like you are buying a Dell PC, it's just the monitor. Yeah, I would recommend seeing what Dell offers. The bad part is unless there is a Dell rep at your local mall you can't see how well the screen is and you would be buying it sight unseen which is a high risk and there is no local store to return it.

i think the question wasnt concerning whether which is better but how the macbook handled spanning on such large resolutions. i too am curious seeing how i might be interested in downgrading to a macbook for its smaller size and use a 20" lcd all the time.

bingo iRez!
Actually here in the UK, the Dell 24' is £716.81, whereas with HE discount, the 23' ACD is only £646!

I just wanted to know if the Macbook's GMA950 coped well with such large resolutions (not for gaming)..
