Hi again.
I have had Skype 2.7.0.330 installed here for a while but I am unable to join a chatroom that a friend of mine has set up. He can't add me to the room due to my privacy settings, but from what I can see there is nothing wrong with them (Allow Calls From Anyone, Allow Chats From Anyone). He is using the PC version of Skype, and it is almost as if his version & my version just aren't talking to each other.
I started a thread about this on the Skype forums a while back but I'm getting nowhere - after last posting about the chatroom problems over a week ago, no responses at all. Can anyone here help please as I'm getting fed up with this
I am running Quicktime 7.5 (I upgraded to this as it was suggested that older versions cause problems) and am running OS X 10.3.9 on a G4 800MHz tower with 512MB RAM.
Thanks for any help on this problem.

Do you have a firewall - either in the system or in your router?

OK.
Problem solved. For some reason the chatroom administrator couldn't add me, but when someone else in the room did, I got in!
Maybe a problem at the admin's end?
