I like a lot of the icon sets out there, but one think that has bugged me is that, while there are a lot of icons in each set, there aren't a lot of basic icons that I think should be there.

For example: Rad-e8 makes great icons - probably the best I have ever seen. But, his icon sets don't include icons for Address Book, iCalendar, Terminal etc.

Logically, one cannot expect icons for every application (e.g. Flash, Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Proteus) but I would have thought icons for basic iApps would be included.

As a result, there's an incongruence in the look of icons system-wide.

Does anybody have any suggestions for this sort of thing?
Cheers,
Nick.

that is a very rude and ignorant reply. people without artistic ability can not teach themselves that. i learned how to use photoshop and yeah i can edit and in some cases recreate icons/images, but thats not being an artist and creating icons.

btw, i am pretty sure rade8 did alot of the iapps itunes ical ichat for sure

I'm sure he was just trying to inspire you in his own way! :-] You can teach yourself to design anything you are interested in. Artistic ability is 99% perspiration like anything else. Some people make it look easy, but it's not even for them! Spend a week working on an icon for your favorite program and see what you come up with.

I love the U.S., but we need some time apart.

Well, it's in my opinion that artistic ability is something you either have, or either don't. I don't think it's a learnable ability... kind of like drawing.

Some people are born with the natural ability to draw well whereas others aren't. True, one can learn the technical ability to draw, but the ability to draw isn't the same as creativity/flair.

But anyway, I'll devote some time to learning how to make icons.
Cheers,
Nick.

If you download the full set (not the system icon replacements) there are definitely replacements for all the iApps. Though, IMO, the iChat one sucks.
