If you could ask a VERY high end photographer any questions, what would they be?
I'll take the 5 best and ask them tonight as a special National Geographic event and respond back tomorrow.

1. Which do you prefer: film or digital? Why?
2. Will you help keep medium format alive?
3. What are your thoughts on so many photogs "going digital" and abandoning film?
4. What is you post-processing software of choice?

Where is the future of photography going, stylistically speaking?
and...
Do you use those pricey cameras to take ultra-high res pictures of your feces?

1. What is the one aspect of making pictures you are most obsessed with?
2. Do you believe that true originality can exist in modern photography?
3. What do you feel is more important in photography; aesthetics or communication?
4. When you make pictures, are you concerned with how the viewer will perceive the message of the photograph?
5. Are you happy with the direction that modern photography is going?

If you were forced to use one lens for a week, what one lens would it be?
Nikon or Canon?

As a matter of fact, when I worked for Apple, one of my projects was to cold call every photo studio in the northeastern suburbs of Detroit, and one of my questions was exactly what platform they used. The majority used Windows.

With the ease of alteration in digital imaging today, what should or could be done to bring credibility and relavance back to photojournalism?

My stupid iPhone game: Nesen Probe, it's rather old, annoying and pointless, but it's free.
Was free. Now it's gone. Never to be seen again.
Off to join its brother and sister apps that could not

Um...If you ask them what their post-processing software of choice is and they reply "Aperture," I'll give two guesses as to their platform...

But what I really want to know is, what's their OS of choice.
Surprised that hasn't come up yet.

I only want to know what version of Vista they prefer. 10.3 or 10.4.

Um....that would be rather obvious, wouldn't it? but that wasn't mentioned in Railroader's original post, and not being a professional photographer, Aperture, which is fairly new to begin with, didn't register with me. Besides, as I've already pointed out, the majority of pros don't necessarily use Macs in any event, but go ahead and make fun of me if it makes you feel better.

"I hate to be the one to brake it to you..." but your post did seem a bit defensive and ignorant.

<throws pallet at Uncle Doofy>
I'll answer that, because pathetically, that is my story. I tried painting for about 15 years, all the while keeping photography on the back burner. It was the birth of my children that nessesitated the switch. Oils are hard to wash off a 2 year old's tiny fingers and face.

I'll admit I'm not a very good painter (though I still do some work from time to time), but unless you're going for some kind of stylistic interpretation, a photograph is a better representation of the subject matter.
Photoshop can do a lot (stylistically) nowadays, anyway.
