It's based on a H.G. Lovecraft novel, and it's code-named Cloverleaf.

From what I've heard (which is quite a bit), it's a psychological thriller first, monster movie second. The trick isn't on making the character go mad though, it's on the audience. Rumor has it, you never see the monster in the entire movie. That's a very Hitchcocky thing to do. He always said that it's scarier for the mind not not to see something, because the mind automatically puts in the scariest thing for that person.

Wow that looks cool, but looks like we have to wait a little while before it hits the theaters.

It's based of off Lovecraft's Cthulhu legend. What you're seeing in the previews are the "spawn of the stars".

The trailer looked alright in terms of the effects and building suspense.

But hell, if there's anything I hate more than an entire movie shot in Blair Witch shaky cam, it's J J Abrams' style of mystery: always more questions, scarcely any answers.

I f'in hate it, and I avoid any of his shows. Not seeing the "monster" the whole way through the movie? Completely plausible, judging by his previous work...

I'm going to wait until my friends have seen this one, and if they say the movie has a satisfying conclusion, then I might see it.

HP Lovecraft is legendary, and I very highly doubt this will live up to him.

This movie better have some serious game if they want to take on the Cthulu mythos.

(That's if this is indeed based thereupon...)

Not sure if I'm going to see this one, even though the Cthulhu mythos is all over the Internet, and I probably know most of it already. I just don't go for that type of film.

"Slusho" is also a name for it, I think.

I'm very intrigued by the trailer. Looks very interesting.

I heard it was going to be named, "Oh crap, a big ass thing is coming to step on us."

That may just be an unsubstaniated rumor though.

Yep, this has all the earmarks of Gojira!

The reference to japan: "have a good time in Japan, Rob!"

and my Japanese acquaintances immediatly said "Gojira" when they heard that monster sound!

It looks like another Godzilla movie with a modern spin, I can't wait, and...

I hope this time its good!

It looks good. Having dug around on the Internets, though, I'm not yet convinced it's based off of the Cthulhu mythos (we've got one teaser, and a 100 different opinions floating on the web about wtf the monster is).

Heh.

Believe it or not it's a STAR TREK prequel with two actors playing Spock. The only original character as the others are not born yet.

All the names that are mentioned here have been denied. It was in today's Toronto Star.

EDIT: Sorry, only Cloverleaf was denied.

I'd like to see this monster, perhaps have a word with it.
I'm not going to be bought so easily by cool CG anymore.
