My daughter's ipod touch recently started this. About 1/2 the songs have no sound (although it shows the song playing no sound comes out) This happens with headphones as well as docking stations. These songs play fine on itunes and other ipods. I have tried the 5R's and still nothing. Anyone? (It is out of warranty)

Do the songs which don't play have anything in common? For instance, the iPod will play .aac files, but not .mp3 or vice-versa. Or maybe it will play non-DRM'd songs, but won't play protected ones. Just trying to help you think out loud.

That's the strange thing... there is nothing in common with these songs. Some were purchased from itunes, some from mp3panda, some are from cd's, etc.
