What do you mean it's "worse"? The way it worked before was a bug. They now fixed it. Icons in the Dock should not display their custom icon state after they quit. I've had that happen too often with Transmit and Safari (SafariStatus) showing their badges after the app quits. I'm glad they fixed it.
