Hi All,

I'm Apple Pro Underwear. Started using Macs in college when Apple was just coming out of it's downturn with Jobs back in the saddle. Here are some thoughts I would have never guessed since the days when I used to post:

1. Eventually Apple was right in that 'Mhz' did not matter. We don't talk about that much anymore. Speed is based on the overall configuration for the most part and most people are quite happy with their machines for quite a long time. Production heavy people not withstanding of course.

2. That Apple would lead the mobile phone revolution. We used to post a meme of the "iWalk" here on this forum that is basically a magic device that could do everything — that device is now the iPhone.

3. OSX really is amazing. We used to argue with some of the Windows trolls here about what was better. OSX has been consistently awesome, Windows has had ups and downs but the conversations these days are not really OS based because Apps/Web have blunted the OS importance to a degree.

4. Apple used to be so downtrodden and now they have '**** You' money and don't care about market share. We used to argue about market share here on the forums but now it is meaningless.

5. The value of MacNN lounge. MacNN lounge was partly responsible for giving me great practice as an online communicator. Being great at wording emails has done wonders for me over my career.

Feel free to reminisce with me! Also, I'm shocked the Expanded MacNN Profile thread is still up! lol

Welcome back.
Yup, a lot has happened in 20 years. I can’t believe that I spent half my life participating in discussions on this place!

I'd make a "lickable" buttons joke but it would probably be inappropriate.

My sig is 1 pixel too big.

Macs these days are so powerful that they can almost run video games at a decent frame rate. Almost.

Fortunately he took the time off to do some serious self reflection and study the cause of his short temper, lack of empathy, and poor treatment of people he doesn't like. He's really turned it around and is doing much better now.

During the famine of 2009 we were forced to cannibalism. That's why there aren't more people left.

Don't forget the momentous day in 2011 when we finally posted everything there was to post about. Since then some brave souls have been deep mining the well of lost posts (apologies to Jasper FForde for the reference there), frantically recycling ideas and opinions (now known as the Green New Deal) and reminiscing about how great things where when all we had to do was ask CTP what his opinion was on any subject to gain the definitive answer.

Good times.

in case you guys are curious, i still do quickie photoshops at times for Slack / Twitter when i can. it's really fun way to make use of a unique skill not many have.

man this brings back so many memories of my time in college-ish age in the lounge

i dont think i have any regrets of my time here at all. it taught me how to write better when i want to and organize my thoughts to get something across. it also made me focus on a topic like Apple and really 'study it' as a fan and then fast forward 20 years later, i have perspective on the subject matter that i can apply to other subject matter

kinda amazing the lounge is still going actually. so everyone here is like the OGs isn't it
