Hi:
I have a Mac Mini, CS with a 1.5 GHz CPU and 512MB RAM that I am upgrading to:
1) CPU: Core 2 Duo 2.33GHz T7600 SL9SD.
2) 4GB RAM - 200-Pin DDR2 SO-DIMM DDR2 667 (PC2 5300)
My understanding is that the mem specs are:
Cas Latency: 5
Voltage: 1.8V
ECC: No
Buffered/Registered: Unbuffered

My question is: For ppl that have performed similar upgrades, what RAM manufacturer and part number will work in the Mini? Conversely, what ones have you tried that did not work?
I am trying to make sure I won't have to return the RAM that I buy.

TY for your help
J

For PC5300, buy whatever's cheapest.

If it doesn't work, return it.

There was a series of i5/i7 iMacs that would only run reliably with Samsung RAM, but for the 5300 stuff, it really doesn't matter.

If you feel a little more adventurous, you can even upgrade the CPU to a Core Duo.

You'll only be able to use 2GB of RAM with that Mini unless you force the later Mini firmware on it. Otherwise the 2x2GB modules won't even allow it to boot. Unfortunately I can't find the link I used to force the firmware to upgrade but it's a pretty sketchy process. If it fails, you might end up with a completely useless computer.

Huh??? This is a Core 2 Duo, running at 667 MHZ FSB, which is the fastest bus speed the mini can handle. In addition, the cpu is the fastest (2.3 GHZ) with the correct form factor that the mini can accommodate. The T7600 has 4M cache - which is the max cache that of all the CPUs that will fit into a mini.
Um, the core duo is a lesser CPU in many ways.

Might you be thinking of this thread?:

Mac Mini Firmware Upgrade Utility Needed (help request).

And thanks for the heads up...I didn't know that a firmware update was required...

Oops, I didn't fully read your post, sorry. I read "Mac mini, CS" and assumed Core Solo without noticing you had listed the specs.
