BBC Radio 1 is now being broadcast to the USA on SIRIUS
http://www.sirius.com/BBCRadio1
It's the 2nd most popular radio station here in the UK, with 8 Million listeners tuning into Chris Moyles every weekday morning.
I just wondered if anyone here has listened in the states, and what they thought?
If you've not, then I would recommend listening to Chris Moyles, Jo Whiley (Especially the Live Lounge) and Zane Lowe. They are my personal favorites.

Listen to Moyles as is funny in a dumb way and then turn off and listen to iPod.
They repeat the same chart songs through the day which gets rather tedious.
Joe Wiley is well and truly stuck up her own a** imho.

Zane Lowe is the only one of any merit in that list.

Gilles Peterson isn't on the list, my personal favourite. I imagine he'd be the Radio 1 DJ that would translate best to the rest of the world.
Zane Lowe would make more sense anywhere else in the world, except the UK.
What's this Sirius thing anyway? Haven't you been able to listen to Radio 1, live shows and past shows, via their website for an age now?

It's a delayed rebroardcast (i.e. so when Chris anounces it's 8am, it's at 8am USA time) on the Sirius Satalite radio. You can get recivers for in your car as well as 'Walkman' style ones apparentely.

Giles Peterson is one of my all time favorite DJ's/Shows. I didn't put him on the list as the evening shows change from day to day... I just put the daytime shows on.

You mean that there are stations other than Area 63 on Sirius?

The daytime stuff is a bit drossy - they've slightly broadened their playlist since a few years ago, when you really did hear the same 10 songs over and over and over and over and over..... (If I hear 'Love Story' by Layo and Bushwhacker once more I'm going to go mad...)
I like Moyles - many people seem to hate him - but you have to realise that he's playing a character on the radio - he pretends to be a massively ego'ed DJ - it's sort of a piss take on the commercial ones (like Chris Evans from the 90's or 'Doctor' Fox - who he hates.)
The evening stuff is much better as they're allowed to play whatever they want.
If you like dance music I recommend:
- The BreezeBlock with Mary-Anne Hobbes: 1am-3am Monday Night/Tuesday morning
- Annie Nightingale: 1-3am Thursday night - A brilliant nutter who is still way up for it at 60-something...
- Fergie: 11pm-1am Friday Night - rather hard house / techno - I'd like to know how much of what he says the Americans can decode(!) "Happy Days!"
- Fabio & GrooveRider

Annie Nightingale, her and John Peel got me through my teens. She absolutely rocks.

Annie Mac is one of the best additions to the station... Not because of her DJ skills and radio presence, but because of the music she plays.
