Heya. I own a MBP 17 and use an incase sleeve with it. I'm thinking of buying a timbuk2 classic messenger, but I"m torn between the medium and large. Does the 17 and the sleeve fit well in the medium or am I better off with a large? Thanks.

i have the Timbuk2 Commute bag and it fits my 15" mbp snuggly (quite perfect if you ask me). i think you need to go with the Commute XL for the 17" mbp. the beauty of these bags is that you dont even need a sleeve because the notebook compartment inside is not only padded, but soft and not placed on the bottom of the bag, so even if you place it down on the floor hard, your notebook might not even get the inpact.

i give my Commute an easy 9.5/10 for my mbp and a 10/10 for my old and sold powerbook.
NOW YOU SEE ME! 2.4 MBP and 2.0 MBP (running ubuntu)

Yeah, the Commute XL is a bit out of my price range,. At max, I"d be willing to spend 75 and I can find a medium messenger for 50 and a large for 72. Plus there'd probably be plenty of times where I wouldn't need to take my laptop around and I wouldn't really want a sleeve built in to the bag at those times.

Best thing to do is find a local store and try it out. My MB fits snugly in a small and I bet a medium will fit the 17" snugly as well. You can also compare Apple's online size dimensions with TimBuk2's online dimensions.
