Hey, all.

Does anyone have a nice bag that holds a TiBook, but is non-casual? The price is insane on these, but I think they look nice: http://www.coach.com/shop/category_l...tegory_id=123.

I don't want the courier or backpack type bags...

I don't know where you live or if there's an apple store nearby, but I picked up a Tumi Backpack for laptops. I didn't know if it fit so I went by the Apple Store and tried and voila it fits.

I'm very close the the Apple store here at Woodfield mall (chicago burbs). Guess I could hit the Coach store at the mall and see if they have the bag, and then try it out on my laptop.

Those Tumi bags aren't bad, but I guess I'm looking for something a little less 'computer baggy'.

the Kensington Apple Logo bag from the Apple Store is gonna be my purchase as soon as my Ti gets in. Nice room for extras, Options included for handle, Shoulder Strap or Backpack. Perfect, especially for $50.

Alright, although I admit that the TiCase by Samsonite is the Ultimate upscale Ti Case, it is mighty mighty expensive, as are all the other briefcase-type enclosures, such as those by Haliburton.

Through MacCentral I found out about a company which makes bags & backpacks designed especially for Macs. They come in unimaginable configurations, and tons of different styles for different machines. I definitely suggest everyone check out Willow Design .

Just for the record, I've had the Kensignton case since May 2001, and it's been very good to me. It's good quality with good protection. However, when I've packed it completely with paperwork, my Ti and its accessories, and random other things, it gets a bit uncomfortable. The Backpack mode is the best in that situation, but then if you're carrying it for a LONG time, eventually the laptop begins to dig into your back . But overall I'm pleased. These days I don't move it around as much, and rarely with more than my AC adapter and mouse. So if you're only planning light toting of your Ti for short distances, then the Kensington is an affordable alternative.

If you're into mega travel, I'd definitely invest in something hard-sided for extra super-duper protection.

Anyone try the "Titanium I" by Brenthaven offered by the Apple Store website as "Manufactured exclusively for Apple by Brenthaven," specifically for the Ti PB?

Being sold by Apple, I presume that the $150 is a somewhat inflated price, but if it's good quality, may be worth it?

Since my Ti 1 Gig won't be here for a few weeks, I want to research this a bit before buying!

I'm looking for a backpack. I looked at the Brenthaven backpack (listed on Apple's page for 179) at compusa. Didn't really impress me much on the outside, but the inside was excellent. It would make our little babies feel nice and warm for the winter.

Also something that might be worth noting. If we get shot at, this particular case is made out of military grade ballistic nylon. I don't care if I take a shot in the shoulder or something, but god be damned if the powerbook gets a f�ing scratch on her!

$135 for a backpack sounds alot, but is it worth it? Does it have two straps over your shoulders or 1 strap across the chest? The website doesn't really have any other pics, I was hoping if you can share some. Thanks!

LOL - Yeah, I hear ya!

Does everyone use a case with a "sleeve" for the Ti? A little more hassle getting it in/out, but worth it, given the relatively fragile nature of the Ti's finish.

Waterfield Designs at http://www.sfbags.com has some very nice bags. The cargo bags can be had in plain black for a more "professional" look. I've been using their iPod and G4 PowerBook Sleevecase for a while and just took delivery of a large cargo bag. All are well constructed and very attractive.

The only downside of the bags is that they're relatively expensive. Nevertheless, I highly recommend them.

Get the coach. That is an awesome looking bag, and will only look better over time. You'll have it forever.

Look for coach outlets in your area. I bet you can get it (or something very similar) for much cheaper.

I'm most likely going w/the coach. I just do not like stereotypical 'computer bags' or those backpack thingies.

I can't seem to see them in stock at the local stores, though... I'd really like to make sure the Ti is going to fit ok!

That's actually not too bad. One of the most interesting things I saw listed here so far.

I guess I'm just looking for a nice leather bag that is more like a tote or satchel, etc. Mainly just don't like looking like I'm carrying a computer around. Maybe my computer dorkiness still shines through anyway. lol

I'm looking for something more like a 'slip cover'. I figure if I really need protection for serious travelling I would then put it in a backpack or other shoulder bag that has the rest of my stuff in it. I would like something that is more just to protect the surface and be comfortable to hold, and preferably would just stay on all the time, even when using. I just want to carry it around in my car, or go from office to office, and be able to open and go, without having to remove it from the bag and find a place to put the bag. Either soft leather(-ette), vinyl, or even heavy cloth would be fine. I'm thinking of just making one myself (yes, I do know how to sew - my father was a tailor :-), but I'm looking to see if anyone makes something nice like that already. Any suggestions?

This store is about 3 shops down from our agency. They have a really nice leather bag (that isn't shown on the website), that I've actually been eyeing up for the same purpose as you. It runs $180 and is 100% leather. Really nice. It may be worth a phone call, I'm sure they'd send you pictures.

This makes for a good dedicated case.....its stylish and not bulky. I may add it to my current case for the short trips where I don't need the extra stuff..

So I may have to go with the spy case, has desent storage and the metal case whould offer protection.

IMHO, the coach bag is by far and away the best looking bag of any posted here. Clean, simple, professional, understated.

The problem with the backpack style bags that are designed for computers is that they are lame as backpacks and equally as lame as a computer bag. I've been using an osprey for my ibook - awesome backpack, but not so well-suited for a laptop. Still, it seems to work fairly well, and has a space for a water bladder as well - gotta stay hydrated.

There's a reason the coach is so much $$: quality. It's going to last forever, and just get better and better and better. Provided that someone doesn't steal it.

Ordered a RacerX bag. Let you know how everything goes when (and if ) all the kit arrives. Went for the Racer cause its small, and if you fly lots these days, the smaller the carry-on bag the less hassles with security and "random" checks.

I have a coach bomber jacket (in black) that I've had for 6 years now, and still get major compliments on. It looks as good as the day I bought it (which was for $799). They do make top quality stuff (short of the German and Swiss that is).

Hi, The Spire Zoom XL bag does look cute and protective, but does it have a special internal sleeve/pocket for a laptop the size of the Ti? It'd be useful for it to be padded and relatively well sized for the PowerBook. What backpacks actually have that special pocket?

I had a big bike crash, and although I had to cough up $1260 for the PB replacement, my 6 year old LL Bean bag was replaced for free because on impact, the corner of my PB crushed the zipper threads.

Actually, you can do both, though it really is a two-strap backpack.

It is certainly worth it. It has perfect # and size pockets. There are also 4 straps on the side which reduce the sice when there is less stuff. It never looks bulky and doesn't look like a computer bag.

And there is a ton of padding. Not only is it padded perfectly, but it comes with a removable 'boot' with it's own handle. My powerbook never leaves the boot except when I am using it. That way I won't scratch it. So I can carry it around the building in the boot, then just slip the whole thing in the pack's special slot and put it on my back.

I am a librarian @ Northwestern and go to school for philosophy part-time for fun, and I can carry all of my books (that I need that day), videos (I watch a lot), newspapers, atlantic monthly, newyorker (both for the el ride here in chicago) power adapter, apple mouse, extra battery in the internal pockets and then put little cables, papers, and other junk in the external pockets. And it doesn't look bulky or big in the least bit.

Look at me. I feel like an unpaid sales rep. But it's also a small company out in boulder which makes me feel good about giving them money.
