Lately I've been experiencing a problem where, sometimes when i right click something, I will get about a 2 second pause, a beach ball for 2 seconds, and then finally the right click will execute. It doesnt seem to happen in any one specific program. I havent been able to find any pattern to it, other than it happens about every half hour. Any ideas?

It's probably the Finder deciding which apps to add to the "Open With..." contextual menu. A good way to bypass it is to right-click the item, then - while still holding down the rightmouse button (or key) move _outside_ the menu and select what you want to select.

Hope this helps.

are you using any non-apple drivers with that non-apple mouse by chance?

Details please, details.

I get this all the time, especially when in a folder containing over a hundred files, I assume it's because I'm running Jag on a G3 350 - maybe you're similarly underpowered?

Nope its not a lack of power, I've got a Gigahertz powerbook. Last night I noticed it also happened when clicking the status button on iChat, which is a left click. I'm using a non apple mouse, Logitech, but it hasnt been a problem until recently -- been using the mouse since i got the computer. Its not the hard drive sleeping either, checked that. Only thing I've installed lately is the Java update, but had the problem prior to that.
