Small request:
If you have a Radeon X800, and upgraded to 10.3.8, please run this GLInfo utility and email me (arekkusu at mac.com) the resulting text file.
Thanks!

Thanks to everyone who responded, I have the info now.
This is just to see what has changed from 10.3.7. (The only change is the max viewport size has increased from 2656x2048 to 2656x2656.)

Not sure what you mean? I first assume you mean installing OS 10.3.x on a G5 with a Radeon X800. Second, the Radeon X800XT Mac Edition's requirements are a Power Mac G5 with system 10.3.6. So does that answer your question? You have to have a Power Mac G5 and OS 10.3.6 to install a Radeon X800 into.

Hey.. Ok.. Sorry to barge in on yer post..
I was thinking about upgrading my graphics card to something along the lines of the X800 for gaming purposes..
Now.. I have seen in other threads they speak of PCI as opposed to PCI-X port. Apparently my Dual 1.8 has a PCI..
Can I still get an X800?
What is the difference between the PCI and PCI-X?
Someone mind explaining this to me?
Thank you!!

PCI and PCI-X will have no bearing to your video card decision. The X800 uses the AGP Pro slot. All PowerMac G5s can use all Mac Radeon 9800 and X800 cards.

Okay, you guys do know there is an ATI sitee with all the specs of the Radeon X800XT Mac Edition
It should answer all your specification questions.
Hahahaha - a PCI version of a Radeon X800 - give me a break. I think you were referring to PCI-Express by the way, and as a2daj said, the Mac version of the Radeon X800XT is AGP 8x Pro. Macs don't have PCI-Express slots yet.

So what do you do when you need to perform a clean install of Mac OS X 10.3 onto a PowerMac G5 with a Radeon X800XT?

You make sure your OS 10.3 disk is an OS 10.3.6 disk, OR you create a home-made OS 10.3.6 (or 10.3.8) disk, OR you put the video card that came with your Power Mac G5 in until you get the Power Mac G5 updated to OS 10.3.6, OR you make sure you have a second OS 10.3.6 or higher on a second HD. This problem will of course disappear once Tiger is here.
Of course this is the same problem a Power Mac G5 owner with a Geforce 6800 Utlra or GT has.
