I;m trying to slap OS X 10.4 onto an iBook G3 running 10.0 and 9.1. The Tiger installer tells me it can't install on the disk (got around 6GB free on a 10GB HDD)
NO firmware updates needed on this Mac, does anyone know why the installer might not like it?
cheers
Andrew

What are the specs of your iBook? Processor speed, ram, etc.

Are you using a retail 10.4 DVD, or one that came from another computer?

You can also install to another external FW disk on another machine and then just DD it over to the ibook G3

Just for reference, I installed Tiger on a 700 MHZ G3 iBook (20 Gb HD) using an external DVD player. No problem at all.

Yeah I'm also running Tiger on a G3 iBook with a 500MHz proc, 640MB RAM and a 10GB HDD. It didn't give me any problems when I went to do the installation and it was a retail Tiger disc.
