yup... definitely crashed my car into a tree this morning. it sucked pretty bad. slippery leaves and a corner made my morning commute a little rocky.

i'm ok, car needs a new bumper, - AND TIRES.

cop gave me a written warning. traveling too fast for conditions, i guess he could have given me a ticket, so i'm ok with the warning. (for the record, i wasn't really going that fast, the leaves just got me)

happy f'ing november.

I think that tree was trying to commit suicide! He dropped all those leaves down there so someone would slip and crash into him. Damn sneaky dirty trees! Git'em!

Not that fast was too fast apparently. (Which you are now painfully aware).

Leaves are like ice when you are on them. You can have all-wheel drive and it doesn't matter if you don't have traction.

Damn leafs.

You may not think you're injured - but go see a personal injury attorney and I think you'll discover that your injuries are very severe. The owner of the tree is liable for both damages to your car and the cost of your lifelong medical care and lost wages due to your permanent disability.

Tree owners need to be held responsible for their blatant disregard of motorists.

Glad to hear you are ok. Don't worry about the car, it sounds like it could have been much worse.

I am glad I just got my brakes replaced last week in preparation for the winter.

So was it wet and there were a lot of leaves in this particular area? Or was it frosty? There must have been A LOT of leaves otherwise.

Do you have all season tires?

All season = No season.

You're better off putting summer tires on your wheels, and buy some black steelies from a junkyard and put winter tires on them.

Be careful Mrs Larry.

I totaled a car in NH with the same conditions. Just slick.

Then, it turned cold, I borrowed my friends car and slick turned to ice.

360˚

Almost died in a lake.

I've never heard of anyone driving into anything because of leaves. Maybe that's cause up here it's just a perpetual sheet of ice on the roads.

When I read this title I instantly though of George of the Jungle. Does he exist in America?

it's not like i drove through a PILE of leaves, it's just that the wetness of the road mixed with the leaves, and the lack of tread on my tires made the perfect concoction of slippery-ness

Perhaps it's some of that 'funny' humor the cartoonist was mentioning earlier.

Live around more deciduous tress and then report back. Wet leaves are incredibly slippery, almost more so than ice because they have an adhesion level that just lets go all of a sudden, while ice is a constant slippery surface.

That makes sense That's shitty.

I modify my car so I have a set of summer wheels and winter wheels. Regardless of whether you mod a car or not, having a set of summer and winter tires makes a huge difference. Your tires are the equivalent to 4 index card sized pieces of rubber holding your car on the ground. Tires are the best upgrade you can do to a car.

Why is Helen Keller such a bad driver?

Cuz she's a woman.
